Found a good "Bad Politicians" link? Let Us Know!

Most of you know that I have absolutely no respect for either political party. Many of the links here (I'm simply too disgusted to write my own page on the subject at this time) are party motivated. Personally, I find it ridiculous that folks will blind one eye - or both eyes - to the ills of their own professed political party, but can't seem to get enough of pointing out "the other guys'" foibles. If I were a social scientist, I would probably be fascinated to the point of writing a book on the subject. In any case, beware the messenger, re: the links below. Me - I don't care who exposes corruption... as long as it IS corruption and not some fantasy made up out of hearsay and hatred.

"Corrupt politicians make the other ten percent look bad."

-- Henry Kissinger

Bad Politicians We present a simple theory of the quality (competence and honesty) of elected officials. Our theory offers three main insights. Low-quality citizens have a “comparative advantage” in pursuing elective office, because their market wages are lower than those of high-quality citizens (competence), and/or because they reap higher returns from holding office (honesty). Hence, voters may find themselves supply constrained of high-quality candidates. Second, bad politicians generate negative externalities for good ones, making their rewards from office increasing in the average quality of office holders. This leads to multiple equilibria in quality. Third, incumbent policymakers can influence the rewards of future policymakers, leading to path dependence in quality: bad governments sow the seeds for more bad governments.

Bad Politicians, Name them! More for the entertainment value than anything else.

Blogging the Revolution!: Bad Politicians (by Tim Cox) Half of all Americans believe most members of Congress are corrupt… and more than a third think their own representative is crooked, according to a 2006 CNN poll. An August, 2007 Gallup poll showed that only 18% of Americans approve of the job Congress is doing—I’m surprised the number isn’t 1.8%. The problem reaches deep into both parties.

Bad politicians like bad pennies Bad politicians, whether they have been imprisoned, as some should be, or out deceiving the electorate, as most bad politicians do, never stop coming and conning the people. They always think that they can con one more time; they can get over one more time; they can be elected one more time.

[2006] Conservative group names most corrupt politicians GOP dominates 'most corrupt' list; 'Dishonorable mentions' nearly all Democrats The advocacy group Judicial Watch released a list today of “Washington's 'Ten Most Corrupt Politicians' for 2006.” In a final swipe at Republican leadership in the last Congress, the list, as acquired by RAW STORY, singles out more Republicans than Democrats. Judicial Watch announced its list of Washington's “Ten Most Wanted Corrupt Politicians” for 2007. Included on the list are 4 of the 2008 candidates: Senator Hillary Clinton; Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani; Governor Mike Huckabee; and Senator Barack Obama.  Interesting.

Defending the USA from dishonest government "An independent voice for ethical and honest government. Seeking to defend the USA from those who seek to subvert her values, threaten her democracy and seek to harm her citizens." Right. Yet all of the targets on this page are Republicans. I guess you can't get more independent than that....

Public corruption is one of the FBI’s top investigative priorities—behind only terrorism, espionage, and cyber crimes. Why? Because of its impact on our democracy and national security. Public corruption can affect everything from how well our borders are secured and our neighborhoods protected…to verdicts handed down in courts…to the quality of our roads and schools. And it takes a significant toll on our pocketbooks, too, siphoning off tax dollars. Learn more here about our national program and local investigations. Coalition Against Corrupt Politicians (CACP) has unveiled an information program for the people of New Jersey to report politicians taking part in despicable acts such as bribery, fraud, pension padding, nepotism, cronyism and other mischievous acts. Unfortunately, it appears to be a New Jersey State only activity. HEY YOUSE GUYS! BROADEN YOUR HORIZONS! (BTW, Good job!)
