Bibliofind Used Book Search Can’t find that out of print book? Used book searches by title, author, etc. Works very well. Six million old, used and rare books offered here for sale by two thousand booksellers around the world make this the largest and possibly the most interesting book selling site on the Web.

The Advanced Book Exchange. More or less the same as the above, but has more reference stuff as well. An interesting place to browse.

The Epicenter Shopping Cart. One of my favorite places to go mining for information also has great online deals for Military Surplus, Medical, Lighting, Backpacking, Emergency kits, Tools, Safety, Accessories, Power, Books & tapes and overstocked sale supplies. Prices look pretty reasonable and no one has complained to me about delivery times. They give short, interesting and informative write-ups on the products, most with a photo of whatever is being sold. Kinda helps to see what you are buying. BTW – they DO carry MRE’s and the BAY-GEN stuff, too!

CAMPMOR. Outstanding site to check out if you are looking for "designer" equipment. It includes gear to cover everything from a weekend hike to a major expedition. It is a great place to get ideas for gear and includes equipment for kids which you won't find in a lot of places. "CAMPMOR is one of the world's most recognized names in the outdoor industry, with an impressive mail order catalog of gear for camping, backpacking, mountaineering, hiking, trekking, canoeing, kayaking, in-line skating, and bicycling all at everyday low prices." Well, it is pretty pricey even at "everyday low prices" but it’s a nice site. They also have a special deals mailing list that you can join for closeout sales. Some of these really are good deals. B&A Products On-Line Catalog. Emergency Preparedness and Survival Products. While, at first glance, these items appear to be slightly overpriced, the fact is that they are all within surplus store range and INCLUDE SHIPPING & HANDLING. Makes them very reasonable. Byron & Annie Kirkwood are heavily into Earth Changes, and their site contains a Preparedness Section that SSRsi regularly links to. Byron & Annie have been guests on the Art Bell show & Annie has been on NBC’s "Ancient Prophecies." Both are authors. Some of their stuff is a little "out there," but it’s an enjoyable and informative ride.

Loadup Survival Goods. Limited selection, but nice presentation and pretty good prices. Haven’t ordered anything from them.

Lehman’s Non-Electric Catalog.

Lindsay Publications "Unusual technical books revealing skills and processes almost forgotten. Foundry, machine shop, plastic molding, chemistry, survival, alternate energy, appliance repair, steam power, and much more." This site is weird, but has the potential for leading you to good info that you won’t find elsewhere. While it’s a sales site for books, the "Never ending nightmares at Lindsay Publications." and "Weird inventions that may get Lindsay put in prison." Segments are extremely funny and a good place to go for laughs.

The system has the added benefit of removing from 91.4% (6.5pH mercury) to 99.9% of pesticides and other industrial toxins. The only drawback is the requirement for a minimum 30-60 psi water pressure to operate (depending on the model). Of course, using an elevated holding tank would alleviate this problem in any fixed position. These are on top or under counter installations and not really suitable for transient applications - and the filters require replacement occasionally - but every system has it's drawbacks and I'm sure some of our more ingenious viewers can come up with a way to make it portable. Many of the systems come with a recommendation for installation by certified plumbers only, and they do not come cheap. The 400gal countertop model runs $200 and the ultimate system (1200 gal, under counter system) goes for about $460. Still, what price can you put on your health and peace of mind?

Ramsey Electronics, Inc. Really neat electronics distributor. Don’t know how the prices stack up, because I don’t buy a lot of these items. Great selection with prices, specs and some photos. Lots of amateur radio stuff.

Alternative Energy Engineering. 1997-98 Design Guide & Catalog. Their design resources have long been a part of the SSRsi info links, but now you can browse their catalog for home power generation. Most of the stuff is pretty steep in price, but I guess that’s life. If you want to make your own power, here’s one place to find what you’ll need and the info to use it.
