Tuesday the arrest of a 25th suspect in the plot to bomb flights from the UK
to the United States. Terrorism and law experts discuss the differences

KRT Wire ~ British anti-terror police raid restaurant 9/2/06:
Scores of British anti-terror police raided a Chinese restaurant in London
late Friday, arresting 12 men on suspicion of recruiting and training for
terror attacks. Two other suspects in the case were picked up elsewhere in
London, police said, and in Manchester anti-terror police announced two more
arrests in an unrelated terror investigation. Police said none of the
arrests was linked to last month's alleged plot to use liquid explosives to
blow up U.S.-bound airliners.

LONDON — European security chiefs pledged increased cooperation against
terrorism on Wednesday, saying they may begin blocking Web sites,
fingerprinting or iris-scanning airline passengers and training Muslim
preachers to fight radicalism.
Bomb Plot Suspects Interrogated Under New British Anti-Terror Law
17 August 2006: A British judge has given police additional time to hold
without charge 23 terror suspects being held in the plot to bomb flights to
the United States. The police request was granted under anti-terrorism laws
passed last year after the London subway bombings that killed 52 people.
British anti-terror laws are tough and the government may seek to make them
even tougher.

stopped and searched randomly to test new hi-tech anti-terrorist equipment
on the rail network, the government confirmed yesterday. A millimeter wave
scanner which can screen for concealed weapons and traces of explosives will

station, London, in January.
