The Road of Life, Applied to My Story Sun , Feb 25, 2001, 7 29PM Yadkinville, North Carolina My superintendent asked me this week how I came to North Carolina. It took me a little while to answer the question. I fear I left him a little bewildered. The simplest answer is that I met some people, while working at Fort Meade, Maryland, who had some friends who had moved to Wilkesboro, North Carolina. This friend and his wife, and I, left Maryland one weekend and visited Wilkesboro. I later came to live with the Martin family in Wilkesboro for a while, and have lived in North Carolina since. In "How I Came to North Carolina" lies a tale I will tell you of today, gentle reader. This paper goes beyond that simplest answer. To paraphrase John Denver, " I was born in the winter of my twenty-seventh year. . ." I left my job at Fort Meade Maryland on February 10, 1979, a fact I can establish from an old letter to my parents. This month marked the twenty-second anniversary of that event. I am 48 now, and was 26 back then, the date of my birth being March 12, 1952. Let me quote from that hand-written letter, from twenty-two years ago: "What's been going on since I left work last February 10 and started work this October 8 (about eight months) has been complex. It has been highly orchestrated and perfectly timed. My income during the whole time has been less than $500 and yet I have yet to lack for a meal or a place to sleep. In addition, I canceled all my debts but one and that one Dad canceled. (Retirement money and tax money came in.) There have been four trips between the East Coast and the Midwest and vice versa in a Volkswagen that, by rights, should not have made it around the block. ..." When I try to continue with my story, this Sunday evening in the Huntsville community in Yadkin County, North Carolina, I am flooded with details. I want to tell you that you can step out on that Real, Redeeming Love of the Risen Christ, and find new life. I want to bury you with a tale of Jesus Christ, indeed risen, indeed alive and in the world today, and who wants to express His love for you, personally. I left Maryland nearly half-my-life ago with just enough money to pay for the gas to drive to Quincy, Illinois. My feeling was that God was sending me, and God would take care of me. That "stepping out" changed my life. The Father put that desire to leave my old way of life in my heart, gave me the faith to go, and has never left me, before or since. On a sadder, or happier note, depending on your belief system, is my motivation for wanting to tell this tale, today. Hopefully, in thirty years, I will look back and laugh at my thoughts today about dying. This past winter I have had some difficulty at work. We have had to be out in the very-cold winter, and it has taken a toll on me. Because of my excess weight, and not taking care of myself, I have felt sometimes weak and puny, and afraid I might die. Let's not bury me yet, I am taking steps to improve my health. I never used to get tired at work, being of a strong constitution. These may just be signs of aging at 48 that I am not used to. The Format For My Story When I talk about how I came here it seems important to me to tell all of the details, to leave nothing out. It may be because I lived it. When I do, however, I typically leave my listener with glassy eyes, and unsure of what I just told them. Happily, or by the Grace of God, a friend sent me a story this week. That persons' story will be a framework for relating my story. We will paint with broad strokes today, and not pay attention to fine detail. The Road of Life At first, I saw God as my observer, my judge, keeping track of the things I did wrong, so as to know whether I merited heaven or hell when I die. He was out there sort of like a president. I recognized His picture when I saw it, but I really didn't know Him. But later on when I met Christ, it seemed as though life were rather like a bike ride, but it was a tandem bike, and I noticed that Christ was in the back helping me pedal. I don't know just when it was that He suggested we change places, but life has not been the same since. When I had control, I knew the way. It was rather boring, but predictable. It was the shortest distance between two points. But when He took the lead, He knew delightful long cuts, up mountains, and through rocky places at breakneck speeds, it was all I could do to hold on! Even though it looked like madness, He said, "Pedal!" I worried and was anxious and asked, "Where are you taking me?" He laughed and didn't answer, and I started to learn to trust. I forgot my boring life and entered into the adventure. And when I'd say, "I'm scared," He'd lean back and touch my hand. He took me to people with gifts that I needed, gifts of healing, acceptance and joy. They gave me gifts to take on my journey, my Lord's and mine. And we were off again. He said, "Give the gifts away; they're extra baggage, too much weight." So I did, to the people we met, and I found that in giving I received, and still our burden was light. I did not trust Him, at first, in control of my life. I thought He'd wreck it; but He knows bike secrets, knows how to make it bend to take sharp corners, knows how to jump to clear high rocks, knows how to fly to shorten scary passages. And I am learning to shut up and pedal in the strangest places, and I'm beginning to enjoy the view And the cool breeze on my face with my delightful constant companion, Jesus Christ. And when I'm sure I just can't do anymore, He just smiles and says. "Pedal." At about five years of age I was playing on the playground in Silver Springs, Maryland. My father was stationed at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, in Washington. D. C. The kids on the swings were singing "Jesus Loves Me This I Know," and, "Jesus Loves the Little Children." I went into the house and asked Mom who Jesus was. She said that He had hung on the cross and died for my sins. We were not a church-going family. Recall we are using broad strokes to tell this story. Skip ahead to about fifteen. I was getting into many fights in school. I was getting beat-up a lot. There was no sympathy from my parents. They assumed I was the problem. It was very upsetting. In desperation I remember opening my New Testament. The book happened to open to: "Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock." [Matthew 7:24-25] Those words cut through me like a knife. The words were alive and vibrant. They were no longer words on a page. Personally I think of that time as my introduction to Jesus Christ. Let us not get into a theological discussion. At that same time, a vision came of the United States of America devastated. I also saw myself wandering it, carrying a Bible. A very strange sight indeed, to me at the time. ***** I HAVE ALWAYS TOLD PEOPLE WHAT I BELIEVED ABOUT AMERICA BEING JUDGED. Even though it looked like madness, He said, "Pedal!" " There is a current file on my computer called, "Preparedness Essentials, fourth draft - 2001 Introduction". Parts of that file are excerpted here to give in this version of my story. It, and my other writings, have more complete details. Look there for them. From that file: "In 1977 I returned from the U.S. Army to my parents home in Huntingtown Maryland. There I attended the Huntingtown United Methodist Church.... In that church I became part of a small prayer group. One evening the leader told me that there were audio tapes out that sounded like what I was always saying. I have always told people what I believed about America being judged. I am doing that now." The reader should also look up "George Washington's Vision." What the tapes spoke of was what was called the Chicago Prophesies, about the coming Judgement of America. What is important to our tale is that I received many confirmations. Some came from people who worked at the National Security Agency, next to Fort Meade, where I worked. They told me that they could not tell me why or how, but what "I" was talking about had more truth in it then I knew. Suffice it to say that I was receiving confirmation, some nine or ten years later, of my initial vision. Why was there no Chicago earthquake, Nuclear War, and occupation by Russia, China, and Japan for seven years starting in the late seventies? One pastor has likened us to Nineveh. From the New International Version of the Bible: Jonah 1:2 "Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach against it, because its wickedness has come up before me." And later: Jonah 3:10 When God saw what they did and how they turned from their evil ways, he had compassion and did not bring upon them the destruction he had threatened. Many people prayed and asked God, at that time, to stay His hand, and He did. I wonder today, if He is sorry about it, and if, like Nineveh, we will face a later judgement. **************** I HAVE BECOME PART OF A LARGER CHRISTIAN FAMILY. "I worried and was anxious and asked, "Where are you taking me?" He laughed and didn't answer, and I started to learn to trust. I forgot my boring life and entered into the adventure. So I did, to the people we met, and I found that in giving I received, and still our burden was light." I did promise to try to keep this brief. Briefly, one couple from Fort Meade who I talked to were moving to Quincy, Illinois. They wanted to make a new start, and find some place that they might settle, should things "get rough in America." They said I could come and stay with them. Wherever I have gone, the Father has brought me to like- minded people. I had traveled to Quincy with just enough money for gas to get there, and had broken down on the way. God got me there, any way. When things did not work out in Quincy, I asked the Lord to get me out of there. One week later, to the day, unexpected money came from Maryland, from my last days at my government job. Taking that money, I traveled to Wilkesboro, North Carolina. (Note to self: I still find joy in all the details, however, let us stick to broad paint strokes.) I should guess I have lived with two or three families directly or indirectly over the years. I know I have become part of a larger Christian Family. Some of the like-minded people I met in Wilkesboro had come originally from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. From that connection, directly, came the move to Winston, in the early eighties. About prophesies and woes to come and whether or not this is indeed the end of the age: It doesn't matter, to quote The Rock. If my tale tells you anything, it should tell you that God helps carpenters and other fools, regardless of merit. I know, I have lived it. Jesus is Alive Forevermore! *********** NOT REALLY DIFFERENT "I did not trust Him, at first, in control of my life. Continuing with the broad strokes: It was in Wilkesboro that I asked my Heavenly Father what kind of work He wanted me to do. By then, at 27, I had tried everything else I could think of. The answer I got was to "become a carpenter." Somehow, in a wonderful way, all that I have learned about my trade has come into focus in the last couple of years. Go figure. What the Father has taught me patiently, through many years of hard toil, I can now, sometimes pass on to others, who work under me. I also and friends with, and relate to, the people who work above me. Most of them are Christians. Go figure. What have I learned? "Jesus loves you, this I know... " God has a plan for your life, and you can trust him. Tomorrow morning I will get in my 2001 Chevy Truck, stocked with every kind of carpentry tool I commonly use. I currently live in rural North Carolina, far from the cities I envisioned devastated. But you know what, it is not really different from the day I left Maryland some twenty-two years ago in a broken down Volkswagen with forty dollars in my pocket. Jesus is still my soul provider. CONCLUSION I AM HAPPY TO WRITE "And when I'm sure I just can't do anymore, He just smiles and says. "Pedal."" Despite fatigue and the aging process, the LORD encourages me today. It may be that I will actually get married and have a family of my own, though I do not see how. Stranger things have happened. Stranger things have already happened to me. The only thing I know is that no matter how tired or scared or confused I am I can always choose to hear, and obey my Heavenly Father. He has proven Himself faithful all these many years, when I thought I knew what to do, and when I knew I did not. Step out today on what you feel God wants you to do. Jesus never fails. Your brother, Paul it has taken me three hours to write this .... and forty-eight years to live it THE CHICAGO PROPHESIES, The Judgement of America Three files, one from my journal, and two found this evening, on the web: First File: {Written circa 1998, with a little present-day editing.} "I have no copy of the prophesies that came out of Chicago in 1974 in front of me now. I will reconstruct from memory: It was said that there would be extreme weather conditions to include floods in diverse places. There would be intense heat in the summer followed by rain and floods. There would be a great earthquake in California. One month later there would be an earthquake in the Midwest, centered in Chicago. That quake would cause a wall of water from lake Michigan to inundate the city. One prophet told of seeing this huge wall coming towards a bridge in the city. Only one man was seen to be kneeling and praying. After the water had swept over the bridge he was the only one left. The split from the earthquake would run all the way down the Mississippi valley to the sea. One woman, {not one of the Chicago Prophets,} told of seeing people reaching down to pull other people out of the dividing earth. She said she even saw arms that were severed being replaced in the name of Jesus. {The Chicago Prophets continued:} A week after this catastrophe Russia launches a thermonuclear attack on the United States. It is a more selective strike than was thought for and it mainly hits the military targets in this country. {Large areas of the United States are still habitable.} A period of time after that Russia invades the United States of America with the help of China and Japan. Seven years of occupation follow. During this time of occupation an underground church arises. It consists of three groups: 1] One group travels between churches. {The Out-Reachers} 2] Another group acts as the clergy. {The Unifiers} 3] I do not remember the third group at this time. {May have been more Militant in nature} There will be a guerilla army that will trouble the conquerors during the entire time of the occupation. It will be mainly composed of children and will be Christian in tone. (The movie Red Dawn speaks of these kind of things and may be based on these prophesies.)" Second File: Wednesday , March 7, 2001, found a website with Chuck Youngbrandt's name on it. References the same material given by him and Cliff Collins back in the 70's. This is an overview, following closely what the first file said. The third file is more detailed. Chuck gives details about the timetable he says God has shown him which will include preliminary nuclear strikes against several US cities. Apparently this has involved escalated "warning signs" of judgment that have actually been going on for some time. God's judgment, he says, will then commence with a major earthquake in the Chicago area that will effectively tilt the Great Lakes basin and cause major flooding and destruction not only of Chicago but the entire Mississippi basin to the Gulf of Mexico. Seeing the US weakened, its enemies will then attack and invade. Russia will first attack with nuclear missiles, and the US will respond, destroying several Russian cities. Japan and China will attack from the west, coming in through Mexico, to whom they will promise to give back California, Arizona, etc - but of course they will renege on that. They will be joined by several other nations, including Cuba and Nicaragua. The Russian forces will land in Delaware and the US forces will not be able to withstand them. Remember, Jesus told His disciples: "I have told you this, so that when the time comes you will remember that I warned you." (John 16:4) Third File: Wednesday , Mar 7, 2001, 9 05PM The Chicago Prophesies, Expanded: Seems to be my night for finding present references to the Prophesies that came out of Chicago in the late 1970's. Found another site, with a corrupted version of the original prophesies. I have removed references to more recent dates, and restored the original, "Three Years of Judgement," as detailed on the "A Call to Arms" audio tapes: "Isa. 42:9 Behold, the former things are come to pass, and new things do I declare: before they spring forth I tell you of them. The following is information given thru Chuck Youngbrandt. As described in Revelation chapters 17 and 18, judgement will come on Babylon the Great, and we believe it will commence very soon. The reasons for judgement are given within those verses and are obvious to all with a sense of God's point of view and His character. National moral error always has its national consequences. God judges nations while they are yet a nation. Chuck divides the full judgement into a three year progression. It will progress into an enemy occupation of America lasting seven years. At the end of which, the occupying armies will be driven out. Weatherwise the first year of judgement will start with a very rainy spring. On June 9th it gets very hot with no rain resulting in crop failures. In October it will begin to be very, very cold. There will be 3 volcanic eruptions on the west coast. A destructive hurricane will hit the Corpus Christi area in September, followed on Sept. 19th by an earthquake in St. Louis. This hurricane and earthquake in Sept. is a sign that in the following December an accidental Russian firing of a nuclear missile attack on America will occur. While the Russians try to stop them, 4 warheads get through. They hit Lexington KY, Columbia SC, Richmond VA, and just north of New York City. The U.S. counter attacks and hits three Russian cities. In this year North Korea will attack South Korea, China attacks Taiwan. Iran hitting U.S. troops in Saudi Arabia with a nuclear bomb, Russia invading Iran. Following the summer heat that starts June 9th there will be "gas shortages, the dollar would begin to slide in July, and the price of oil imports will sharply increase. ... Food riots will start in August, August will be a real turning point. Those who are rebellious against God will now rebel against the government including the communists fifth columnists we have here. Military troops will have to be called out as a result. Some will repent but many will continue in rebellion. God said 90% of the rebellious and disobedient church people will die during this over all judgement. What sounds like germ warfare or at least a plague breaks out in California and Georgia killing thousands as it spreads, panic and fear will result. China and Japan buddy up closer in their economies, Japan out of fear, no doubt. The second year, weatherwise there is the very cold winter, some places no snow and others to much, -46 F degrees in Chicago. Eighty percent of the homes in America will be without heat and with little food many will starve to death. Dead bodies will lie in the streets. It will reach 120 degrees by mid May. The year starts out in January with an earthquake in northern Iowa followed in 30 days by a massive one in Boston and then they become very common throughout the year. In late spring God's prophets will go across the land calling people to repentance, many will repent. Electrical power will be rationed, oil imports are cut off. Very little food. Again half the people out of work. Mexico and Canada restrict how many Americans can cross over. Fear, pain, and misery for the unbelievers. Miracles for the Christians, food increased, dead raised. At this time persecution of Christians will go wild with government approval. Next during the second year of full judgement, on July 5th, a mighty, very powerful earthquake hits Chicago. It will be heard for 500 miles around, knock people off their feet in Detroit. The water in Lake Michigan will rush to the north and then return 15 stories high and totally destroy Chicago. The water will continue down the Mississippi river valley wiping out all the cities in its path including New Orleans. Thirty days later, angels will tell the Christians where to flee, and seven days after, an all out nuclear attack from Russia will hit America. At this time in Florida the southern half of the state from Orlando south will go under ocean water, be gone! The U.S. Military will have received a death blow, very little military left. Two months later is the invasion. Russian troops land at Slaughter Beach, Delaware, they move on into Philadelphia where no one is left alive from 3 bombs. They take over many air fields and land a million in personnel. China, Mexico, and Japan, with other countries, will join in the attack. On the west coast the Chinese land and enter through Mexico with Mexican help and up into California, they also land near San Francisco. They land in Astoria, Oregon with mainly Japanese personnel. In California the Chinese are ordered to kill all Americans . The Russians will take some Americans back to Russia for slave labor. Russia and China will plunder the land. This is when the anointed Leader of the Land, by God's power, drives the invaders out. When this starts happening the "enemy" Christian soldiers that are here join with the Americans driving the other invaders out. All totaled 70% of Americans will have died. Store food? YES! Shoot at the enemy when they come, one against the many? NO! Look to God always. Do not fear the enemy, fear God, Rev 14:7. Jesus, why are you telling me this, Chuck asked. "That my children should prepare their hearts for these things and believe on me, for I am able to supply all your needs in every adversity. That you walk in faith and not fear. That you stand upon my promises and see them. That you abide in my love and know that I am the Lord thy God." There are 5 safe zones, God said, "I will keep many alive here: NE Washington, North N. Dakota, NE NY State, N Arkansas, and N Florida. ************* The third file, above, contains references to events and national involvements that seem to have occurred since the late seventies. They were possibly added since then. Don't take them as proof. If I was only marginally unsure of a reference, I did not cut it. This papers' intent has been to share the Chicago Prophesies about the Judgement of America , as I first heard them. It contains only the essence of what was said. People should not depend on prophesies for guidance, but upon the LORD our God. Ask the LORD and He will answer. Note that the original recounting of safe areas, or Green Areas, detailed many smaller ones, other than the five major ones. Paul Phillips 20010308.0354 Thu , Mar 8, 2001, 3 54AM Yadkinville, North Carolina A Call to Arms As detailed elsewhere, when I had my first experience with the LORD a vision of the United States devastated came to me. Soon after that I heard a radio depiction of Revelation chapter 12-16. In particular, Revelation 12, 14: The woman was given the two wings of a great eagle, so that she might fly to the place prepared for her in the desert, where she would be taken care of for a time, times and half a time, out of the serpent's reach. The seven years spoken of in this chapter are the seven years of tribulation. Mid-way through that the church, (the woman,) becomes established in America, (whose symbol is the eagle,) which has become truly a vast waste land, (the desert.) One year, two years, and a half year, add up to three and a half years. The serpent is the name given for Satan's Antichrist, who arises to create a world government. (As far as I know, no one else has given the above interpretation of that scripture. I mean the part about America. Note that the place for the church to hide has been prepared ahead of time. -Paul. ) Thereupon I "stumbled" upon the book, Alas Babylon, by Pat Frank. The now classic book, written when I was seven, details how people might survive a nuclear war in the United States. Things began to look like God was trying to tell us something. Something like seven years after my first vision the Chicago Prophesies of the late seventies were published. I say published. They were recorded upon audio tapes, and passed around. Two prophets, Chuck Youngbrandt and Cliff Collins detailed what the LORD had given them. THE "A CALL TO ARMS" TAPES In essence, with no particular reference to any date, they spoke of the three years of judgement that would come upon America if it did not repent before the LORD. Natural disasters would weaken the United States. Our enemy nations already have treaties with one another. After the natural disasters they would launch a nuclear strike at America's military might. America's food production capabilities, and some of her manufacturing capabilities, would still be available. Much of the country would be left in tact. These things would make us a worth-while prize. After the attack, about one month later, our enemies would invade the United States, from all directions. America would be over-run and occupied. Seven years of occupation would result. Just before that time, angels would come to people to give them a week to flee, telling them where to go. There would be small communities already in place, and many large areas where God would spare lives. These areas were called Green Areas. The church, going underground, would unite America and be the leader of the resistance. Eventually American Christians, along with Christians in the invading armies, would unite to throw the invading armies out. I believe that the United States would then be the center of world resistance to the godless World Government some believe that the Bible says will arise. Lack of it's present technicality would make it hard to enforce rules. Our country would have some modern war capability, but the nation as a whole would be similar to when it was first settled. WHAT HAPPENED: I believe the "A Call to Arms" tapes told the truth, as it was to happen, or may still yet happen. After the initial, true warnings from God things went swiftly "wild." People began adding their own ideas to what the LORD was saying, and have been ever since. They began pegging a specific year to specific events. When those years came, and past, they simply moved up their "pegging." CONCLUSION: I am not going to make any, at this time. Let's look at the end of the "A Call to Arms" tapes, and the end of " George Washington's Vision:" Jesus, why are you telling us this? "That my children should prepare their hearts for these things and believe on me, for I am able to supply all your needs in every adversity. That you walk in faith and not fear. That you stand upon my promises and see them. That you abide in my love and know that I am the Lord thy God." - A Call to Arms ".....THREE GREAT PERILS will come upon the Republic. THE MOST FEARFUL FOR HER IS THE THIRD. But the whole world united shall not prevail against her. Let every child of the Republic LEARN TO LIVE FOR HIS GOD, his land and Union.' With these words the vision vanished, and I started from my seat and felt that I had seen a vision wherein had been shown me the birth, the progress, and the destiny of the United States. - George Washington's Vision Paul Phillips 20010308.0534 Thu , Mar 8, 2001, 5 34AM Hot I got here, again: Yadkinville, North Carolina Hot I got here, again: All the recent emails and journal entries started when someone asked me, again, how I came to North Carolina. That always gives rise to me re-sharing my testimony. As I remember it more fully, I was working for the Government at Fort Meade, Maryland. The "A Call to Arms" tapes had come out, detailed in the last entry/email. They held a meeting called "The New Feast," in Chicago. This may have been some time early in 1977. The meeting was called to form the basis from which the prophesied Underground Church would come. We came together to network, to use modern terms. I have always just asked the LORD. I figured He could talk. What He said was that I needed to take vacation time, pack my bags, and get ready to go. He said that the directions to the New Feast, in Downers' Grove, Illinois, near Chicago, would arrive in time. Note that I had never made a move like this, prior to then. Doubting things, and thinking myself perhaps nuts, I took the vacation time, and packed my Volkswagen. Figured how late the return letter from Chicago needed to arrive for me to make the meeting. Got ready, took a nap, and waited. I remember thinking that I would at least get a weekend off and be rid of the crazy ideas on the tapes. I was awakened to the sound of the letter hitting my floor after it sailed through the mail slot on my front door. What staging. Since that letter hit that floor, my life has not been the same. The upshot is that I went to Chicago, met the prophets, and attended the New Feast. Stayed with some people I had never met. In about April of 1979, I traveled to North Carolina. They had invited me not to continue with my Government job a month earlier. That first month was spent in Quincy, Illinois, also detailed elsewhere. I left North Carolina to travel to Chicago to stay with those same friends from "The New Feast" the weekend the Chicago Earthquake was originally prophesied to take place. That is, the year it was moved to when it did not take place the year before. That would have been in July. A few months later I returned to North Carolina, and have dated my time here from 1979. See why recounting the details leaves people confused. I went where the LORD said to, and have been doing so ever since. Works for me. Paul Phillips March 8, 2001 The older version of how I had tried to tell the above story: HOW I CAME TO NORTH CAROLINA People have asked me how I happened to come to North Carolina. A friend asked me this evening if I had walked here from Maryland. The question is hard to answer but let us take a try at it. At about fifteen years of age I had an experience that introduced me to Jesus the Messiah. At that time I knew somehow I would be an apostle, I would be wandering, and that the United States would someday be a wilderness. That was about 1967. In 1977 I returned from the U.S. Army to my parents home in Huntingtown Maryland. There I attended the Huntingtown United Methodist Church. [It is important that the computer program I am using in Winston-Salem North Carolina to write this on came from that church.] In that church I became part of a small prayer group. One evening the leader told me that there were audio tapes out that sounded like what I was always saying. I have always told people what I believed about America being judged. I am doing that now. A job opened up at Fort Meade , Maryland in 1978. While working there I continued to tell people my story and about the prophets from Chicago who sent out the audio tapes concerning the coming judgement of America. Many confirmations occurred. People from the Army Security Agency [ASA] said that the audio tapes depiction of world conditions were more accurate than I could know. There were others who felt somehow that one day no stone would be left upon another in this country. One person had an acquaintance in Wilkesboro , North Carolina. Their family had left Miami , Florida to escape the trouble to come. One weekend we all traveled from Maryland to North Carolina for a visit. Things went well. We have to shift often to tie together the thread of the story of how I came to live in North Carolina. I have lived here since 1979. There are many details I have to leave out that I may delve into in later writings. I left the Fort Meade job at the beginning of 1979. I lived for a couple of months with some friends who believed as I did. They were leaving Maryland to move to Quincy, Illinois. It did not go well in Quincy. At a point I asked the Lord to please get me out of there. I had no money. One week later a check arrived from the Fort Meade job for sick leave I had not taken. It was enough to pay for driving to North Carolina. That is what I did. In July of 1979 I left Wilkesboro, North Carolina for Chicago Illinois. I felt that the Lord was leading me to go. That was the week that the earthquake was supposed to hit. I drove through Knoxville, Cincinnati, and Indianapolis to get to Chicago. My old blue car burned out most of it's distributor on the way. I limped into town. I stayed with the people I had met at the New Feast. I think I stayed with them a couple of months. COMPLETE TRANSCRIPT OF THE LETTER SENT FROM CHICAGO TO MY PARENTS: Wednesday, March 11, 1998, Huntingtown, Maryland How I Came to North Carolina I find an old letter and start to type it in. A flood of memories comes, sitting here from where I first started my "quest." I am typing at Mom's computer, in my old room. The notes may surpass the letter. Yesterday afternoon I found a letter I wrote my parents some years ago. I will take some time during this week to type it into the computer. It has waited since 1979, so it won't matter if I get it typed in at one sitting. I am using those "Sharpie" felt tip, black marking pens at work now. You mark on metal with them. Dad has a slew of them around here somewhere. I mentioned it to Mom and she said they were downstairs in a box. In looking, I ran across the sort of end-table vanity sort of affair that was part of Dad's office before he died. Looking around in there for the pens I came across a letter in my own hand-writing. The return address says simply "PAUL". There is a fifteen-cents stamp with a picture of Oliver Wendell Holmes attached to it. You can not read the complete postmark but you can see that it says October 14, 1979. The hand writing is strange and difficult to read. The address says, "Mr&Mrs IVAN J. PHILLIPS............. I will add numbered footnotes as I type it today. Any double bracketed passage [{will}] have been put in as I type. **************************************************************** ******* Chicago, 13 OCT [{1979}] Dear Mom & Dad & family: Hi! Got your letter of the ninth, Mom. Why was it mailed from Prince Georges county? [{1}] Glad that everybody's doing fine. I did not really need to swim in the pool this year but it would have been nice. I am glad everybody's been visiting, its good to keep in touch. I don't know what to say about everybody leaving the church but people must do what they think best. I don't really have much to say but would like to know if you got my letter concerning when I would arrive. In case you did not I will repeat. I expect to leave here on 2 NOV in the evening and arrive on 6 or 7 NOV. I could possibly arrive as early as the 5th. I'd like to stay 'till about the 19th. I've been thinking about what's been going on in my life and have made some conclusions. These were written to be complete in themselves and start on the next page. Please don't throw them away as I would not like them destroyed. You can keep them or I can, it does not matter. And so, with that..... SOME CONCLUSIONS What's been going on since I left work last FEBRUARY 10 [{1979}] and started work this OCTOBER 8 (about eight months) has been complex. It has been highly orchestrated and perfectly timed. My income during the whole time has been less than $500 and yet I have yet to lack for a meal or a place to sleep. In addition, I canceled all my debts but one and that one Dad canceled. (Retirement money and tax money came in.) There have been four trips between the East Coast and the Midwest and vice versa in a Volkswagen that, by rights, should not have made it around the block. There was a single circular trip, as well, in which seven of us at the Lake Forest house visited just about everybody and hit all the places I have been since February, but one. [{2}] The last stop before returning home was into Pennsylvania to a site that none of us had been to. In and around and through this the Lord has been healing me of many things. That, that was in me at Fort Meade is gone. I don't know if you remember that I worked at a Gino's [{Kentucky Fried Chicken}] restaurant back in High School but I did. That did not go well. I could not get myself in gear. As well in Quincy, Illinois, I worked for four hours at a job I am doing now and quit. I could not take it. This job is with a lot nicer group of people and not so hectic a pace but doesn't miss by much. [{As I remember, it was at a Howard Johnson's restaurant I could walk to.}] I have always hated food service work. With the weight loss and spiritual house-cleaning I've gone through, this job is a snap. I've had one half-hour of training, have been there a week, and am doing great. I've finally gotten it in gear. If I had continued the way I was at Fort Meade I would have had a hard time getting any job. Praise the Lord, I am free of whatever that was in me that kept me back. The Bible says that if the Son of God shall set you free you shall be free indeed. You know how hard I am to get along with. Through living with three different families I've learned much about being with people. And finally, the matter of material things. You probably don't realize it but I've always wanted to learn to hunt. I've also always wanted to own a rifle. All the stuff I got rid of in Laurel was replaced with hunting and camping gear. Everything that I purchased has something to do with living off or near the land. I can hunt any animal from the smallest to the largest on the North-American Continent. The .22 can be used on anything from a squirrel to a deer but should not be used on anything larger than a dog unless necessary. A well placed shot can down a deer. The 20ga shotgun can be used best on birds the way it is set up, but you can also hunt anything from a squirrel to a deer with that if you must. The way it is cut down is within Federal regulations entirely. Neither the barrel or over-all length are too short. It has a tremendously wide spread but will be good in brush. The 30.06 is about the best deer rifle you can own in my opinion. It has a tremendous knock-down power and at 300 yards the bullet drops no more than one foot. You can hunt bear with it but should probably use a heavier bullet and powder charge than I do. And finally there is Princess. [{the mixed breed dog I picked up in Chicago, long dead now}] I have a hunch I am going to have a hard time convincing her to stay around when a gun goes off but I believe it can be done. At four months she stops and points when she hears an animal (with no training from me) and visibly back-tracks herself. She also stays with me without restraint. She'll need some work on that but she is still young. All this journeying since the New Feast last September has been into places (spiritual - job related - material goods and geographical) that I wanted to go whether judgement was to fall on this country or not. I've known this since day one but have seen no need to bring it up as the whole subject of what I was doing seemed a little touchy, with no help from me to make it less so. What I was and am doing I have done with as clear a head as possible, and with full understanding of the doors I was closing, and a looking towards those that I am opening, and those that have been opened for me. This has been a work of the Holy Spirit. You are free to believe it or not. Regardless, it is or will be a finished training period as of 1 NOVEMBER [{1979}] and will effect the rest of my life. I've learned things that range from the skinning of animals to the fact that a newborn girl has a mini-period in the first few days of life, in many cases. (There was some excitement when little 2-day old Jessica showed up with a bloody diaper when I was in North Carolina. The hospital said it was quite normal.) So end some of my conclusions. They are not justification or really explanation but simply sharing of what has gone on. I am well over 21, [{twenty-six at the time of this letter, and forty-six at the time of re-finding it,}] and am indeed responsible for what I do. I do not intend to imply anything by what I have said here other than simply to share. I thought they may have been trying to disguise where they were by mailing their letters from a different part of Maryland. All mail for outside this county is collected down here in Calvert County and postmarked from up there in Prince Georges County. It was not mailed there. BACKGROUND FOR THE WHOLE LETTER We need to cover a little of the background of this letter. I left the Government on February 10, 1978, a fact I can now establish from this letter. From Chicago two prophets had prophesied of an earthquake in California causing great destruction. One month later, a massive one centered in Chicago. The split was to have effected the entire Mississippi Valley. Two weeks after that Russia would invade after having launched a limited nuclear attack one week after the Chicago Quake. It would hit mainly military targets and leave most of the country free. When I had my first experience with the Lord I saw this nation devastated, a wilderness. From that time, about 1967, I would talk about what I had seen. The Prophesies from 1974 were brought to my attention in a church meeting here, in Huntingtown, Maryland, in 1978. There were a few of us who met as a small group. Being baptized in the Holy Spirit or exercising the gifts of the Holy Spirit was new to us then. The leader said there were some prophets from Chicago who talked about the same things I was always talking about. Chuck Youngbrandt and Cliff Collins made audio tapes of what they had heard from the Lord. These tapes were copied over and over again. Often people just placed two tape recorders in a room, one playing and one recording. Since they did not use a direct cable connection, the resulting tapes were very poor in quality and you missed much. I remember listening to them in this very room. From there I began to talk to more and more people. People from the National Security Agency near Fort Meade, Maryland, where I worked, confirmed some of what was on the tapes. They could confirm the World-Wide events spoken of on the tapes but could not tell me about it. One family was getting out of the service and moving to Quincy. They invited me to come and stay with them after leaving the government. Another man's mother knew Ruth Martin, who lived in Wilkesboro, North Carolina. Their extended family had moved from Miami from there because of the same kind of fears. We made one trip from Laurel Maryland to Wilkesboro some time in 1978. I left Maryland and went to Quincy Illinois. The stay in Quincy was about one month. I left Quincy Illinois and went to Wilkesboro, North Carolina. The Lord told me to travel to Chicago Illinois the week that the earthquake there was supposed to take place. The date set was July 4, 1979. I was there then, and nothing happened. THE NEW FEAST There had been a meeting called the "New Feast" September of 1978, a fact I can now establish from this letter. The meeting had been called to form the basis of an underground Church to function during judgement and had been held in Chicago, Illinois. I don't remember much of what was formed. I remember not knowing if I should go, and calculating the time it would take to drive there from Laurel, Maryland, where I lived. I put that before the Lord, because I felt He was telling me to go. The letter from them, with directions, came at the very last minute it could, and I went. I had prepared to go, loading the car, not knowing if I could go after-all. The letter's arrival thrilled me. While at the "New Feast", I had no place to stay. I don't remember the peoples' name I stayed with. From the letter it can be established they lived in Lake Forest, which is North of Chicago. I stayed with the same people during this visit from July of 1979 to November of 1979, the time-frame of the letter. I stayed with my parents for a while after this letter was written and date my time living in North Carolina from the very end of 1979, though I had spent some months there before that. It is difficult to establish all this without the letter. It means that exactly twenty years ago from now, I began my "quest." What a letter. [{2}] The Lake Forest House I traveled from Wilkesboro to Chicago in July of 1979. If I had spent a month in Quincy, then I had to have lived about four months or so in Wilkesboro. I lived with the Dice and the Martin families and attended the Trinity Fellowship. One of our elders, David Stewart, had been anointed and sent out by Dwight Jester from Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It is that church I now attend, and have since early 1984. Jessica Dice was born during my time in Wilkesboro. I would later return to settle in North Carolina after the time of this letter. There was a man with two children living at home who lived in Lake Forest. They had some friends, a woman and her mother, staying with them. My visiting brought our number to seven. We all got in their camper and visited Wilkesboro, North Carolina, Huntingtown Maryland, and some place in Pennsylvania that I don't remember now. We did not stop at Quincy. Andrew, I am writing in response to recent articles by yourself, Robert Holmes, the prophesy by Ron McKenzie, and others regarding God's Commando Army, the "Street people revival", etc.. Your most recent comments from March 20,1998 and attached prophecy "The Commando Army" by Ron McKenzie stirred many things up in my memory. My spirit is whole heartedly in agreement with the things that God is saying throughout the world right now about this end time move of His Spirit. I am continually blessed by the way the Lord is speaking to many, confirming consistently, through so many, specifically through the Prophetic Disc. List. As I've been reading several of these most recent articles, I have been reminded of dreams and visions that I received many years ago. Almost Since the beginning of my Spirit filled days, the Lord began giving me dreams and some visions that I will call "last days" in subject. Several were along similar lines, I would see gorilla / commando type soldiers. In one dream, these soldiers were going into cities and helping Christians escape to the more rural areas. In the cities there were other soldiers that I perceived to be government troops, policing the residents of the cities, in some cases arresting Christians, especially those that were considered a threat or those tuned in by the "established churches". At one point, I was one of the gorilla soldiers helping people to escape. We had to be very careful not to be seen as we worked our way from building to building and eventually to the edge of the city where it was easier to hide from view. In other dreams and visions I would see the underground / commando soldiers functioning like those in the days of the "underground railroad" in the US during the Civil War. They would have to smuggle people on back roads, through heavy woods, in truck loads of merchandise and so on. Most, it seemed, had waited too long before deciding to leave for safer places, places where Christians had begun to gather themselves in small groups / communities of varying size in mostly rural settings. Before I go further, let me say that I am not an alarmist, the sky is falling, run for the hills person, and I am not saying that we should all become self sufficient / survivalists. However, I do believe that some Christians have become complacent and comfortable and may very well be caught completely off guard if they don't begin to see the signs and listen and heed the warnings. Many of us will have to flee where we are and go where the Spirit of the Lord shows us, and many of us will be used to help those that are fleeing. Ultimately, the only true, safe place will be "In the Lord", right where HE has you. Around the same time that I was receiving these type dreams and visions, God began to speak to my wife and I about places of refuge and dwelling. Some of this came through more dreams and visions. He began to tell us of places like small farms with many cabin type buildings and barns for meeting. He spoke to me many times about groups of primarily men who would go into the cities like these gorilla soldiers and take groups of these Christians out to these small farms in the country. Some of these soldiers would even go into the cities and preach the gospel by the direction of the Holy Spirit, and then quickly disappear back to the country places. I don't know if you've ever seen the movie "Red Dawn" or any other movie like it but that's what it was like. It was hit and run tactics, secretive, underground, gorilla / commando warfare tactics by Christians that knew how to listen and heed and obey the Spirit of God. In a recent dream that I had, there were fields filled with people in tents. Some of these fields were in the mountains in wooded areas and others were on these farm type properties. There was NOT a sense of panic or fear of being discovered but rather a wonderful feeling of fellowship and victory. We believe that these places will spring up everywhere, in every country in the very near future, if they don't already exist. We believe that Christians that already have the resources, whether physical or financial, must begin to release them to the Lord and to the Body of Christ. Again, I do not believe that we need to fear anything, or that we need to RUN but I believe that God is giving great wisdom for us for the last days. The children were sleeping on the luggage. My wife and daughter were crying. I went outside and walked around. I didn't want them to see me cry. I walked around the building, crying and saying, "God! Why did you punish me? Why did you bring me into this country? I can't understand anybody. If I try to ask anybody anything, all I hear is, 'I don't know."' I stopped in front of the apartment and sat on a large rock. Suddenly a bright light came toward me. I jumped to my feet because it looked as if a car was coming directly at me, attempting to run me down! We have all read of how he went to the thicket many times to pray during the winter his army was at Valley Forge. However, little publicity has been given to the vision and prophecy he received at that time. The account of this vision was given in 1859 by an old soldier. He gave it to a writer, Wesley Bradshaw, who published it. In the vision, God revealed to George Washington that three great perils would come upon the Republic. He was given to know that America was going through the first peril at that time. The old soldier who told the story of the vision said that the nation would soon see the account verified by the second peril descending upon the land. The account here is as it was reprinted in the U.S. war veteran's paper The National Tribune, in December, 1880. The National Tribune is now The Stars and Stripes. This article was reprinted in The Stars and Stripes December 21, 1950. Here is the report of this phenomenal, and most important heavenly message for us at this hour. Wesley Bradshaw wrote: The last time I ever saw Anthony Sherman was on the fourth of July, 1859, in Independence Square. He was then ninety-nine years old, and becoming very feeble. But though so old, his dimming eyes rekindled as he gazed upon Independence Hall, which he came to visit once more. MESSAGE DISCLOSED "Let us go into the hall," he said. "I want to tell you of an incident of Washington's life-one which no one alive knows of except myself; and if you live, you will before long see it verified. Mark the prediction, you will see it verified. From the opening of the Revolution we experienced all phases of fortune, now good and now ill; one time victorious and another conquered. The darkest period we had, I think, was when Washington after several reverses, retreated to Valley Forge, where he resolved to pass the winter of 1777. Ah! I have often seen the tears coursing down our dear commander's care-worn cheeks, as he would be conversing with a confidential officer about the condition of his poor soldiers. You have doubtless heard the story of Washington's going to the thicket to pray. Well, it was not only true, but he used often to pray in secret for aid and comfort. And God brought us safely through the darkest days of tribulation." He remained in his quarters nearly all the afternoon, alone. Returning just after dusk, he dispatched an orderly to the quarters of an officer, who was presently in attendance. After a preliminary conversation of about half an hour, Washington, gazing upon his companion with that strange look of dignity which he alone could command, said to the latter: AN UNINVITED GUEST "I do not know whether it is owing to the anxiety of my mind, or what, but this afternoon, as I was sitting at this table engaged in preparing a dispatch, something in the apartment seemed to disturb me. Looking up, I beheld standing opposite me a singularly beautiful being. So astonished was I, for I had given strict orders not to be disturbed that it was some moments before I found language to inquire the cause of the visit. A second, a third, and even a fourth time did I repeat my question, but received no answer from my mysterious visitor except a slight raising of the eyes. By this time I felt strange sensations spreading through me. I would have risen but the riveted gaze of the being before me rendered volition impossible. I assayed once more to speak, but my tongue had become useless, as if paralyzed. A new influence, mysterious, potent, irresistible, took possession of me. All I could do was to gaze steadily, vacantly at my unknown visitor." "Gradually the surrounding atmosphere seemed to fill with sensations, and grew luminous. Everything about me seemed to rarefy, the mysterious visitor also becoming more airy and yet more distinct to my sight than before. I began to feel as one dying, or rather to experience the sensations which I have sometimes imagined accompany death. I did not think, I did not reason, I did not move. All were alike impossible. I was only conscious of gazing fixedly, vacantly at my companion." THE FIRST GREAT PERIL "Presently I heard a voice saying, 'Son of the Republic, look and learn,' while at the same time my visitor extended an arm eastward. I now beheld a heavy white vapor at some distance rising fold upon fold. This gradually dissipated, and I looked upon a strange scene. Before me lay, spread out in one vast plain, all the countries of the world-Europe, Asia, Africa and America. I saw rolling and tossing between Europe and America the billows of the Atlantic, and between Asia and America lay the Pacific. 'Son of the Republic,' said the same mysterious voice as before, 'look and learn.' March 10, 2001 New Madrid Fault Earthquakes The New Madrid Fault Line stretches from Missouri Arkansas Alabama Tennessee Kentucky Illinois Indiana FIRST RECORDED OCCURRENCES The New Madrid Fault, in the Midwest, was the center for the most devastating series of earthquakes in United States History. On December 16th 1811, at 2:00 a.m. the New Madrid Earthquakes began without warning. The first earthquake of 8.6 struck followed by many aftershocks. A second earthquake occurred on January 23, 1812, with a magnitude of 8.4 on the Richter scale. The third quake struck February 7, 1812 with an estimated magnitude of 8.7 to 8.9 These Earthquakes caused major topographic changes over an area of 50,000 miles and badly shook an area of more than 1,000,000 square miles. The earthquakes were felt over two thirds of the United States. Shaking was recorded in New Orleans, Boston, New York, Colorado, Montana, and as far away as northern Canada. The Mississippi River was reported to have flowed backwards. Reports had it that lava rock was pulled up from the bottom of the river. At the time of the earthquakes the area was sparsely settled. It is possible that many deaths went unreported. One survivor stated : "The sounds, sights, and smells of the earthquakes contributed to the terror. The sounds in particular were so varied they were difficult to distinguish. The crackling of the crashing of the trees, the cries of wildlife, the rush of wind when there was no wind, explosions, an ominous subterranean rumble, a roaring rushing, and a hi sing, or whistling noise. It was a symphony of horrid sounds and flashes of light accompanied by a pervasive odor. The gases that were discharged tainted the air and so strongly impregnated the water of the river to the distance of 150 miles below that it could hardly be used for any purpose for a number of days." SINCE THAT TIME: In the winter of 1811-1812, three of the largest earthquakes of North America had occurred in this region. All had a magnitude of 8.0 or greater on the Richer Scale and altered the landscape drastically. Since that time two major-damage level earthquakes have occurred. A magnitude 6.5 occurred near Marked Tree Arkansas in 1843, and a magnitude 6.8 earthquake occurred near Charleston, Missouri in 1895. Seismic instruments have been installed throughout the Mid-West. They show that earthquakes happen all the time in the New Madrid seismic zone. About 150 per year occur, but most are too small to be felt. In 1976 a magnitude 5.0 struck with a 4.5 aftershock. On September 26, 1990 an earthquake struck with a magnitude of 4.8 ESTIMATED POTENTIAL FOR FUTURE EARTHQUAKES Scientists at the Center for Earthquake Information have computed estimated probabilities for earthquakes. They are mainly concerned with a 6.0 to 7.6 earthquake. By the year 2000 a 6.3 earthquake was reported to have a 50% chance of happening. Here in the beginning of 2001 it has not yet occurred The last 6.0 earthquake was back in 1895. This type occurs every 80 years or so. That meant that in 1975 another was expected. It might be said to be twenty-six years over due. The last 7.4 or greater earthquake was in 1812. This type happens every 200-300 years so. The 200 year mark would be 2012. Between now and 2015 a 6.3 to 7.6 earthquake has a 50 to 75% chance of occurring. Between now and 2050 a 86-99%. (All this is according the Center for Earthquake Information.) FAULT STILL ACTIVE The New Madrid Fault is active. It could produce an a damaging quake felt throughout most of the Mid-West. (ESDA) or Emergency Service Disaster Agency is already planning for this type of disaster. ABOUT THE ORIGINAL PROPHESIES Note that the original prophesies from Chicago came out in the seventies. In part they stated that an earthquake would strike Chicago and effect the entire Mississippi River region. One pastor has said that every word these prophets said was true, but God changed His mind. He stated that God had done so for Nineveh. I believe that Nineveh finally did face judgement some seventy years later. The Richter Scale Richter scale, measure of the magnitude of seismic waves from an earthquake, devised in 1935 by the American seismologist Charles F. Richter (1900 85). The scale is logarithmic; that is, the amplitude of the waves increases by powers of 10 in relation to the Richter magnitude numbers. The energy released in an earthquake can easily be approximated by an equation that includes this magnitude and the distance from the seismograph to the earthquake's epicenter. Numbers for the Richter scale range from 0 to 9, though no real upper limit exists. An earthquake whose magnitude is greater than 4.5 on this scale can cause damage to buildings and other structures; severe earthquakes have magnitudes greater than 7. The famous San Francisco earthquake of 1906 was 7.8 on the Richter scale; the Alaskan earthquake of 1964 was 8.4; the Kobe, Japan, quake of 1995 was 6.9; and the Izmit, Turkey, earthquake of 1999 was 7.4. Chuck said at this time you could buy a child for a pack of cigarettes. Next during the second year of full judgement, on July 5th, a mighty, very powerful earthquake hits Chicago. It will be heard for 500 miles around, knock people off their feet in Detroit. The water in Lake Michigan will rush to the north and then return 15 stories high and totally destroy Chicago. The water will continue down the Mississippi river valley wiping out all the cities in its path including New Orleans. Thirty days later, angels will tell the Christians where to flee, and seven days after, an all out nuclear attack from Russia will hit America. At this time in Florida the southern half of the state from Orlando south will go under ocean water, be gone! The U.S. Military will have received a death blow, very little military left. Two months later is the invasion. Russian troops land at Slaughter Beach, Delaware, they move on into Philadelphia where no one is left alive from 3 neutron bombs. They take over many air fields and land a million in personnel. China, Cuba, Mexico, Japan, Nicaragua, Serbia, and one other country join in the attack. On the west coast the Chinese land and enter through Mexico with Mexican help and up into California, they also land near San Francisco. They land in Astoria, Oregon with mainly Japanese personnel. In California the Chinese are ordered to kill all Americans. They dig great holes with earthmovers and bury people alive. This is stopped by a battle in San Francisco where the Chinese general who promoted "death to all" was killed. Alaska was taken by the Russians and they killed everyone there. Hawaii surrendered to the Japanese. The Russians will take some Americans back to Russia for slave labor. Russia and China will plunder the land. Chuck saw busts of Karl Marx set up in churches and people worshiped him. . Witches and homosexuals will hunt Christians for food, cannibalism! Near the end of this occupation Americans were put on trains, told they were going to reeducation camps, and taken to slaughter houses where they were processed for food, the satanic groups wish to kill millions of people. This is when the anointed Leader of the Land, by God's power, drives the invaders out.
