"The Survivalist Pledge:

To help all that can be helped,

LEVEL 1:

BOOKS: Have free booklets and "Nuclear War Survival Skills"
SHELTER: Analyze house, work, etc. for best protection factors
WATER: Have two weeks of bottled water, soft drink, etc. per person
FOOD: Have two weeks of freeze dried and canned food AT ALL TIMES
RADIATION: Have disposable raincoat, hat, boots for each in family
ENERGY: Have spare batteries, candles, and camping stove
MEDICINE: Take first aid class
COMMUNICATIONS: Have a battery powered AM radio, in sealed tin
SECURITY: Have emergency plans understood by all family members
SOCIAL: Join local efforts of S. E. S.

LEVEL 2:

BOOKS: Have "Life After Doomsday", subscribe to magazine
SHELTER: Reinforce crawl space under house (if any) with sandbags
WATER: Have 60 days (120 liters) liquids per person
FOOD: Have 60 days of dried, freeze dried, and canned foods
RADIATION: Have Kearney Fallout Meter, extra of above disposables
ENERGY: More of above, get new 12 volt car battery and lights
MEDICINE: Have fully stocked first aid kit, extra medicine, glasses, etc.
COMMUNICATIONS: Have a CB radio, sealed in tin. Also extra batteries
SECURITY: Learn rights of self-defense, have fire-fighting equipment
SOCIAL: Encourage friends & family to prepare, take first aid, etc.


LEVEL 3:

BOOKS: Have books on shelters, food, medicine, entertainments
SHELTER: Have basement or fallout/blast shelter installed
WATER: Have rain water catch, tank, and purification filter/pills
FOOD: Have drums of dried foods & seeds, and learn gardening
RADIATION: Have better meter, dosimeter, shelter air filters
ENERGY: Have small generator, windmill, stored fuels (safely)
MEDICINE: Learn advanced first aid, CPR, and basic nursing skills
COMMUNICATIONS: Have a CB or FM for family members, study Morse code, etc.
SECURITY: Study team psychology, mob psychology, KEEP SHELTER SECRET
SOCIAL: Start friendships with EM professionals and local police

LEVEL 4:

BOOKS: Fill in library as needs arise, get double copies of some
SHELTER: Move to a balanced rural town away from large cities
WATER: Have rain catch, well, tank, still, filters, and pills
FOOD: Have 2 - 5 years stored food, + fertilizers, insecticides
RADIATION: Have shelters for family and breeding livestock
ENERGY: As above, only more of it
MEDICINE: Make friends with a doctor, make sure town has a hospital
COMMUNICATIONS: Get a ham license and radio, lay intercom lines to buildings
SECURITY: Reduce fire and disaster hazards, have emergency plans set, ensure defensible terrain, have warning system (e.g. dogs)
SOCIAL: Blend in as quickly and fully as possible
