The Shape of Things to Come...
Meg -
I agree with you that our greatest weapon for
survival is knowledge and training in listening to our instincts-- the spiritual
sides of ourselves. There is a new world forming; an new order. Why
carry our negative attributes over into the new world? The human race is
coming into a new awareness of itself and is reflecting upon its purpose on
earth and the general meaning of life, if you will.
So many are preparing from fear, so they
naturally are dredging up all their survival training from previous military
experience and "living off the land" studies. It's natural.
We have so little experience in touching or trusting the innate sides of
ourselves. We are all well versed in having our possessions ripped away
from us by thieves, our government, our relatives and life in general. We
tend to ascribe to the "hoarding" theory because we really don't know
how the graces of life happen to come into our possession in the first place.
So we hoard because we fear. We destroy
what we do not understand because we fear. Very few know, a small
percentage have an idea, and the rest are learning.
I suspect if and when the turmoil begins there
will be mass mayhem, confusion and panic. As things settle down, the more
spiritual side of mankind (his spiritual side) will prevail. Surviving
this first part may take the form painted by the para-militarists and devout
survivalists. But that portion will be short lived. And most of the
conflict will be an engagement between the hoarders, the fearful and the
controllers (alias- bureaucracy). Those staying out of the way of
such slaughter and mayhem will be the "rebuilders".
What we ought to be putting our creative energies
into is - what kind of a world do we all want to live in? What should we
keep and what should we discard? What knowledge carried-over will help
advance mankind and what are the destructive things we need to leave behind?
Within a single generation much of our present society will be only slightly
remembered, and within two generations the majority will be completely
forgotten. What we ought to be developing is:
1) What will we teach to our children?
2) How will we govern ourselves?
3) How long will it take for the present decedents in government to lose their
grip?
4) How do we feed ourselves?
5) What form will long term communications take?
6) Who will be the healers, the teachers, the craftsman, etc.?
7) Etc., etc., etc.!
After all, after all the aggressors have ceased
aggressing, what will be the purpose of an arsenal of guns and ammo? To
kill animals? How long before all the animals are dead? I suppose
the reason it all has come to this is simply because mankind has spent so
precious little time pondering the meaning of life.
I am sorry to be so long-winded. I admire
your courage to put your ideas forward to a group such as has developed within
the survivalist movement. But until the meltdown begins, it is still
probably a good idea to be somewhat paranoid of the "bureau-rats".
That's an evil that can only be stopped with its destruction. Appreciate
your listening.
